A winery and farm located an hour east of Bratislava, their wines being very popular in the early part of the 20th century within the artist and creative scene of Prague and Bratislava. However WW2 tore the family apart and the farm was nearly lost in 1948. From the 90's onwards Agnes and Katarina's parents spent 25+ years rebuilding the ecosystem including the 17 hectares of vineyards. In 2009 Agnes and Katarina decided to leave their city life as accountants and lawyers and return to the farm, one year later creating Slobodne, meaning 'freedom' or 'free winery' in Slovak. They are fascinated by skin contact wines and were the first winery in Slovakia to start working with Georgian Qvevri and Spanish Tinajas.
